How we automated about 50 business processes for one of the retail giants

The challenge

An international automotive company from the retail sector needed to automate its internal processes. The company’s eCommerce platform was processing hundreds of online orders monthly. However, the amount of manual work needed to ship all the packages was making the procedure highly inefficient. Having no experience in the field of RPA, the owners turned to our company with a plan to automate their business.

The process

We started with project workshops aimed at identifying the business needs and understand the problems the company experiences. First, our specialists performed an analysis of all the processes required to finish one order. We mapped them and presented the client with the current stages.

Next, we chose the elements of processes that are first to be automated and are crucial for the business to reduce the overall workload. We also identified the connections between processes which provided us with a bigger picture. On the basis of the client requirements and the current state of production, we prepared an offer for a custom RPA solution.

The solution

Implementing robotic process automation to optimize management and shipment of orders in the retail company.

FAQ: Robotic process automation

When we start the RPA project, we need to define the current state of processes in your business. Process analysis consists of a series of consulting and analytical activities aimed at describing the processes carried out in the company. What processes are the most time-consuming? How many processes are already automated? This is to discover potentials for optimization and automation.

The need for historical and current data.

It’s important to choose the right sample so as to have the right number of recorded events. Only on the basis of an appropriate sample are we able to draw correct conclusions.

The need to prepare adequate human resources and documents.

In order to analyze processes, you need to know what you want to analyze and what effects can be obtained. To achieve that you need a complex team of statutory auditors and business analysts who can assess any detected problems and help you make the right decisions.

RPA refers to software that can be easily programmed to do basic, repetitive tasks across applications. RPA software creates and deploys a software robot with the ability to launch and operate other software. In the retail sector, RPA can help automate business processes such as assortment management, onboarding of new employees, or customer service.
